Sullivan's Island is a town in Charleston County, South Carolina, United States, on a similarly-named island at the entrance to Charleston Harbor. The population is something like 2000. It is also the site of a major battle of the American Revolution at Fort Sullivan (Now Fort Moultrie) in 1776. Known for it's preserved natural beauty, this island has a shifting sand bar that allows for riding in both flat water & waves in the same session.

Climate
Charleston has a humid subtropical climate, with mild winters, hot, humid summers, and significant rainfall all year long. Summer is the wettest season; almost half of the annual rainfall occurs during the summer months in the form of thundershowers. Fall remains relatively warm through November. Winter is short and mild, and is characterized by occasional rain. Snow flurries seldom occur. Hurricanes are a major threat to the area during the summer and early fall, with several severe hurricanes hitting the area.
Spot conditions: The beach
The sandy beach size is depending on the tide. On low tide a rocky jetty is visable. On the right (south) side some metal and cement can be dangerous obstacles. It is only allowed to kite in restricted areas. The official boundaries for The Lighthouse are between the rocks near Station 19 and Station 21 (AKA 19 and 21 avenue). From Memorial Day - Labor day, all kiteboarders must stay at least 100 yards from the waters edge once through the launch zone.
The water conditions
On low tide the water is flat to choppy. During high tide you can hit some small waves. During spring and summer watch out for jellyfish.
The wind conditions
In spring (March-June) the wind blows with 15-25 knots side to side-onshore. In fall and winter the the frontal winds are more gusty and blows from the north. In summer (July-September) the thermal wind blows in the afternoon with 12-18 knots.

There are not so much facilities on this beach.

Next to Sullivan's Island is the coveted Isle of Palms. Known for an abundance of Palmetto trees, this island offers some great localized wave conditions.
If you're up for a small treck from Charleston's NorthEast side, head down to Folly Beach. Here, you'll find one of the widest open most natarual areas you can get to by car.
