The Republic of Indonesia is a country in Southeast Asia and Oceania. Indonesia comprises 17,508 islands. Bali is an Indonesian island located at the westernmost of the Lesser Sunda Islands, lying between Java to the west and Lombok to the east. It is one of the country's 33 provinces with the provincial capital at Denpasar towards the south of the island. It is also the largest tourist destination in the country and is renowned for its highly developed arts, including dance, sculpture, painting, leather, metalworking and music.

Lying along the equator, Indonesia has a tropical climate, with two distinct monsoonal wet and dry seasons. Average annual rainfall in the lowlands varies from 1,780–3,175 millimeters, and up to 6,100 millimeters in mountainous regions. Mountainous areas—particularly in the west coast of Sumatra, West Java, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, and Papua—receive the highest rainfall. Humidity is generally high, averaging about 80%. Temperatures vary little throughout the year; the average daily temperature range of Jakarta is 26–30°C

The beach

Kite Beach is located on the southeast of Bali. The sandy beach is medium sized. Near the shore the beach is sandy, further away hard ground with grass. To the left (1,5 km east) is Sanur Beach.


The water conditions

---

The lagoon had flat shallow water. On the reef you can hit some medium waves. The watertemperature is tropical, so you never need a wetsuit. At low tide you might need boots because almost all water dissapears. There is on walking distance (150m) a deep water channel that is ridable. Watch out for fisherman.


The wind conditions

---

There are two distinct windy seasons in Bali:

The wet season
December to February, is when the monsoon hits Bali. With westerly winds, powerful – up to 30 knots, but gusty. The windiest months is usually January. The best places to kite are Sanur, Jimbaran or Tuban. Please note that it may be windy for 10 days in a row and then nothing for 1 month. You need to be lucky or live here, this period is not recommended for a kite holiday.

The dry season
May to September, is also famous as the Kite season and kites can be seen flying everywhere. The easterly trade winds are very consistent but not so strong. The windiest months are usually June, July and August (80% 12-14 knots). Please note the west coast is windier but only starting from Canggu as wind are a bit offshore and gusty before this beach, only for expert kiters due to waves, currents and rocks.

The wind blows mainly from the east (Februari-November) and the west (December-Januray, 30% 12-20 knots). These directions are both sideshore on Kitebeach.

There are some hotels right at the beach. Besides rooms there is a school, a shop, rescue, food and a parking.
