Pedro Carvalho takes 17m Taboo to top honors at Brazilian Championships in Course Racing class as Taboos ride to 1st and 2nd places.

In the second stage of the Volkswagen Brazilian kitesurfing championship Pedro Carvalho out sailed the competition in light conditions to stake his claim for 1 st place in the Course Racing event at Ponta Negra (Natal/RN).

During the three day event wind conditions barely picked up enough for the freestyle riders to enter the water, but the course racing competitors were all at home in light wind conditions with a moderate sea state. After four heats Pedro was out in front using his new Taboo 17m to make the most of the light conditions and take an overall lead in the championship closely followed by George Feitosa and Victor Adamo. Speaking about his success Pedro said "It's a pity that the winds were not strong enough for the Freestyle riders. It was ideal for racing, and even though the wind was very light the Taboo performed just as promised; I can't ask for anything more in these light wind conditions".

In the women's event similar light winds and the Taboo 17m helped Carol Freitas to a second place spot on the podium closely behind Nayara Licarião who managed to repeat Pedro's clean sweep of the heats. Carol Freitas is new to the Course Racing discipline coming from a surf-focused background being South American and 4x Brazilian wave champion. Carol said she was surprised how fast she had been on the Taboo.

Both riders are keen to put themselves and the Taboo to the test once again in the next event between the 10th and the 14th of November in Rio De Janeiro which will feature Race, Wave and Freestyle competition categories.
